Our Philanthropy

Fellowship and service

Kappa Sigma prides itself on fellowship and service. Our chapter embodies that mission through our work with Reclaimed Project and many local charities. Our Charity Classic football game has grown exponentially since it first began 21 years ago. Mission trips have become a tradition within Kappa Sigma and are something we look forward to every spring. As the event grows, so do expectations. We ask that you consider helping us with our cause this year, as we begin preparing for Charity Classic 2019. We will be announcing our fundraising campaign soon our official Twitter account.

Charity Classic

Charity Classic is a full-padded, regulation football game against another fraternity on campus that takes place in Davis Wade Stadium. In 2018 Kappa Sigma played Sigma Chi and raised $140,000 for Reclaimed Project. Charity Classic was started 21 years ago and has continued to raise more and more money every year for local and national charities. For the past five years, Kappa Sigma has raised money for Reclaimed Project, a non-profit organization based out of Starkville, MS that works with the International Mission Board, equipping churches to care for the needs of the poor in Lesotho, Africa. Reclaimed seeks to target three specific challenges in Lesotho: Orphaned and vulnerable children, hunger, and unemployment.  Lesotho has the second highest number of AIDS orphans in the world. The needs of these orphaned and vulnerable children, go beyond physical, to emotional and spiritual. Reclaimed is committed to equipping the local church to meet the needs of these orphans by establishing Care Centers.

Mission Trips

For several years, members of our chapter have facilitated international mission trips to Lesotho and Zimbabwe, in conjuncion with Reclaimed Project. During these trips, members have built orphan care centers, churches, playgrounds, and farming facilities. Our mission trips are made possible through the generous donations associated with the Charity Classic.

Young Life

Every year our chapter sponsors campers to attend Young Life Ministries' Camp. Young Life is a Christian ministry that reaches out to middle school, high school and college-aged kids in all 50 of the United States as well as more than 90 countries around the world. We are happy to support the Young Life Ministry on campus and in the Starkville Community.
